Assistance to community residents in preparing for the heating season
2025–2026 · Kharkiv and Kyiv regions. Preparing residents for cold weather and disruptions in heating, electricity, and other services.
In 2025–2026, the foundation, together with communities in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions, prepared resilience centers for the fall and winter months so that people would have a place to receive basic support during prolonged power outages.
A resilience center is a place where people can go during prolonged power outages, heating disruptions, or other emergencies. Together with local communities, we identified what these centers were lacking and restocked them so they could function fully during the winter.
For communities living in a war zone, preparing for winter becomes part of their overall resilience. During prolonged power outages, disruptions to heating, and other critical services, a resilience center becomes a vital source of support for people.
This is especially true for communities in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions, which have been significantly affected by the war and regularly face disruptions to critical infrastructure.
Together with the communities. Representatives of the foundation worked with local officials to help identify exactly what was needed for the resilience centers to function properly. This ensured that aid went where it was needed most.
The goal was to strengthen communities’ preparedness for the fall and winter by restocking the resilience centers.
| Objectives | What was done | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Identify what is missing | Together with the communities, we identified what the service points lacked to function fully | Aid was directed to where it was needed most |
| Restocked the centers | We helped provide the centers with the necessary resources | The resilience centers are prepared for operation during the fall and winter months |
| Preparing for power outages | We prepared the centers so that people could receive basic support there during difficult times | Additional ways to support residents during outages of electricity and other basic services |
We worked with local representatives to determine what each specific location needed.
The Foundation helped provide the centers with the necessary resources.
The center must be able to accommodate people during prolonged power outages and emergencies.
We based our efforts on the actual needs of the communities and worked directly with local representatives. Supporting resilience centers has become part of the Foundation’s systematic work on community resilience.
Scope of Work
The project did not create new resilience points: it supplemented existing ones so they could function during the fall and winter months.
In 2025–2026, the foundation implemented three projects in the areas of food security and community support. Each project addressed a specific need of the people.
