The “Travel Without Assumptions” survey collects stories about the travel experiences of people with disabilities in Ukraine. It’s anonymous and takes 15–20 minutes to complete.

Discussions about travel accessibility usually rely on assumptions. The “Travel Without Assumptions” study, on the other hand, asks people with disabilities themselves.

The organizers want to understand what barriers arise as early as the trip-planning stage, what challenges people face during the trip itself, and what actually helps them overcome these obstacles. The study is being conducted with the support of the NGO “Parostok” and MIRA-travel.

Decisions about accessibility are often made without consulting those they affect: designers, transportation providers, or hotels rely on their own assumptions about what a person needs. This study bridges that gap and replaces assumptions with documented experiences.

How the survey works

  • It takes 15–20 minutes to complete
  • All responses are anonymous
  • Questions are tailored to each respondent’s personal experience
  • There are no right or wrong answers
  • Unfinished drafts are saved in your browser; you can pause the survey and continue later

Take the survey

Who should take the survey

We need input from both those who have traveled in Ukraine and those who decided not to travel due to inaccessibility. The latter response is just as valuable to the study as the former: it shows where the barrier took effect even before departure.

Share only what you feel comfortable sharing. The survey is designed so that you decide for yourself how much detail to provide.

Anonymity is essential here. Stories about travel barriers often touch on health, daily life, and assistance from others—topics people aren’t always ready to discuss using their real names. The survey does not ask for your last name or contact information.

A Request to Organizations and Initiatives

Please share the survey with your beneficiaries, with people with disabilities whom you work with, and with your partners. Sharing it once through your channels opens up the survey to a group of people the organizers wouldn’t be able to reach on their own.

If your organization works on accessibility and would like to join us in addressing this issue, please email [email protected].

The Charitable Organization “INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT OF UNITY” is sharing this study as an information partner. The more real-life stories the organizers collect, the clearer it will become what exactly needs to be changed.
