Our partnership with the Portuguese Association of Ukrainian Refugees (UAPT) provides the foundation with access to an international community of experts: researchers, educational institutions, certification bodies, lawyers, and civil society organizations. Together, we develop projects for European reconstruction programs, adapt EU standards, and secure technical assistance for communities affected by the war.
Post-war reconstruction isn’t just about money. Equally important is access to people who have already gone through similar processes: how to submit a project under a European program, how to demonstrate environmental and social impact, and what standards are used to evaluate the work.
A Community, Not a Bilateral Agreement
The Association has brought together an international community of experts in a think tank format. It includes researchers and educational institutions, representatives of government and local self-government bodies, professional associations, certification bodies, lawyers, civil society organizations, volunteers, and international partners.
For the foundation, this means that for a specific project, we can quickly bring together people with the necessary qualifications, rather than having to search for each one individually.
What We’re Working On Together
Joint areas of focus: preparing international projects and grant applications, producing analytical materials, adapting European directives and ISO standards, and developing expert networks. A separate focus area is environmental restoration, the “green” transition, and sustainable community development—that is, what the foundation does in this section.
This also includes organizational and communications support for joint initiatives and the dissemination of practices that have already proven effective in other countries.
What does the community get out of this?
The community receives a project proposal prepared in the donor’s language: complete with a rationale, performance indicators, and alignment with European requirements. This increases the likelihood that the application will be approved and reduces the time between the community’s decision and the start of work.
The partnership also opens the door to international technical assistance when the community needs not funding, but equipment, methodologies, or expert guidance.
